Jesse Bailey And Phariba Johnson Came to Ohio From Virginia

Review of the Quaker Records of William Hinshaw, Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy Vol VI Virginia and Vol IV Ohio.

There are several people named Jesse Bailey. But the Quaker records of the Bailey family of Blackwater MM and surrounding monthly meetings all seem to refer to the Jesse Bailey who was the eldest child of Edmond Bailey and Elizabeth Womble. - EAQG, VI Virginia, p. 97

A number of different Bailey family registers are recorded in the records of the Blackwater MM but none show any one else named Jesse Bailey other than the son of Edmund Bailey and Elizabeth Womble.

The records of this meeting references this Jesse Bailey several times.

Blue Rock PM was held in Blue Rock Township, Muskingum County, Ohio. The meeting for worship was founded in 1820 as Meigs Creek Meeting under Stillwater MM, following a visit by a Stillwater committee that included Hugh Judge. It is thought that a meeting house was built in 1821. The meeting's name was changed to Blue Rock when the PM was granted in 1826.

Blue Rock PM, always a small meeting, was transferred to Deerfield MM in 1827. Blue Rock Friends attended Deerfield MM on 7/21/1827 to discuss the situation. Stillwater MM and Stillwater QM agreed on the change, and Blue Rock PM was officially attached to Deerfield MM on 12/15/1827.

Contact with Deerfield Friends actually undermined the meeting, as most Blue Rock Friends moved south to be closer to the main body of Deerfield MM. The PM was laid down in 1830 and the meeting for worship in 1831. http://www.quaker-chronicle.info/meetings.php?meetingID=229

Blue Rock Meeting was a continuation of Meigs Creek Meeting. A meeting house was constructed in 1821. It stood along the southern border of Section 34 of Blue Rock Township, on the west side of Peyton Road. Most members relocated to the larger Quaker settlements further south, and the meeting was laid down in 1831.

It is clear this is the same family and the same Jesse Bailey the son of Edmond Bailey and Elizabeth Womble.
